Friends in fiction--

It's been a little over a year since I sent you my last novel update ( http://www.marusek.com/pages/novel-update-2.html ). That was way back in December 2002. At the time I was sending the novel manuscript off with tears of hope to my agents. Thirteen months of rejections later, I am thrilled to announce that last Friday (January 16, 2004), I sold COUNTING HEADS to Senior Editor David G. Hartwell at Tor, through my agent Ralph Vicinanza.

COUNTING HEADS will see the light of day! What a relief (to me at least).

As to details, I have few to share:
--I will have to cut the book into two books.
--This deal covers only the first book.
--It will come out in hardback and paperback.

That's it; I'll send another update when I have more information. For late breaking news, check my site at www.marusek.com .

Here's the approximately 10,000 manuscript pages that have gone into the current draft of the novel, photographed at the Open House on January 21, 2004.
